World's first Scholar's Degree (SD) awarded
On 17 June 2010, the Regents of Saint René Descartes University have conferred upon Francesco Mavelli the Scholar's Degree (SD) in Journalism honoris causa (hc).
This is the first degree ever granted by Saint René Descartes University, and the world's first Scholar's Degree (SD) ever granted, the highest degree issued by the university.
Saint René Descartes University does not grant traditional Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degrees, but the following new progressive degrees, which are also alternatively granted by Bryant University:
- Diplomate's Degree - DD
- Professional's Degree - PD
- Scholar's Degree - SD
Sen. Dr. Francesco Mavelli is the Ambassador of the UMMOA to Italy, but he also holds several other high positions with the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Knights of Malta), and the International States Parliament for Safety and Peace (ISPSP). He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Gazzetta Ufficiale of the ISPSP, and an Antarcticland International Press Association-Registered Freelance Journalist.
In the past, Sen. Dr. Mavelli was granted a BS in Biological Sciences from the Università degli Studi di Bari, and has completed a Post-Graduate Course for Medical-Scientific Writers at the Università degli Studi di Bari.
Let it be understood that while it is appropriate to call an Italian national carrying an old BS degree a Doctor (Dottore in Italian), under the new nomenclature of progressive degrees, Sen. Dr. Mavelli is also an honorary Scholar.
Sen. Dr. Mavelli's Scholar's Degree has been sent to Italy via Express Mail International.
